Terry Paul Mapstone, 72, of Dexter, New York, passed away at his home on July 1, 2026.
Born on March 11, 1954, in Syracuse NY. Terry was the son of the late Charles and Ida (Casselberry) Mapstone.
Terry grew up in the Fayetteville-Manlius NY area before moving to his home in Dexter NY, where he lived for 35 years. He built a career as an electrician at Morgan Badgley Co., Manlius NY. He later worked as an electrician at the Cape Vincent Correctional Facility, before retiring in 2006. He was known for his strong work ethic and mechanical expertise. Whether it was electrical, plumbing, fixing equipment, or lending a helping hand, Terry was always willing to share his knowledge and skills with family, friends, and neighbors.
On August 10,1985, he married his soulmate and best friend, Katherine (Kaptan) Mapstone, from Manlius NY, with whom he shared many happy years.
Terry found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved boating on the St. Lawerence River and Chaumont Bay, traveling, mowing his lawn, feeding the birds, and enjoying the company of family and friends. His beloved cats were his faithful companions and partners in crime.
Terry is survived by his wife of 40 years, Katherine Mapstone; his daughters, Tracy (Dominic) Caruso of East Syracuse NY and Lynn (Peter) Derrigo of Liverpool NY and grandchildren, Sophia(Daniel), Haley, Paige and Andrew; his sisters Connie Woodward of DeRyder Lake NY, Tamara Graham of Virginia, and Roxanne Barnaby of Fabius NY; many nieces and nephews and his cherished cats, Bob, Milo, and Rosie.
In addition to his parents, Terry was predeceased by his parents-in-law, John and Gabriel Kaptan of Manlius, NY, and by his brothers, Chucky, Bruce, and David Mapstone.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Becker-Cleveland Funeral Home in Chaumont, NY.
A Celebration of Terry's Life will be held at a later date at the family's convenience.
