Robert B. Maur, 88, of Watertown, NY, passed away at Samaritan Medical Center on Monday, March 10, 2025, surrounded by friends he treated as family.
Robert “Bob” was born on August 17, 1936 in Watertown, NY to the late Harold and Rachel (Edison) Maur. He worked as an electrician and was a member if the IBEW for over 55 years. In high school, he played football, wrestling, and track and was the 2nd recipient of the Graf Award, Watertown High School’s award for 3 sport athletes. After graduation, Bob served in the United States Army.
Bob liked to putter and stay busy with various house projects, seldom seen without a hammer, screwdriver, or paintbrush in his hand. He renovated many houses in Watertown, most of them
after work and on weekends. Bob was a member of the Elks Lodge and never used a drive-thru as he loved going into places in person to have his conversations with people inside.
Bob is survived by many close friends as well as nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, Nancy Maur, his son Gregory Maur, and a sister, Gertrude Israelow.
A private burial will be held in the Spring at Sanford Corners Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Cleveland Funeral Home of Watertown. Online condolences can be made at www.clevelandfhinc.com.
As Bob would say often when people left, “Keep it under a hundred”.
