CAPE VINCENT- Matthew Scott Allen, 48, of Centre St., passed away unexpectedly at Samaritan Medical Center on Thursday, November 27, 2025. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cleveland Funeral Home Inc., Cape Vincent, NY.
Matthew was born on March 18th, 1977, to Richmond and Dale Anne (Merryman) LaBeau in Watertown, NY. During his time at Watertown High School, Matthew was an avid runner on the cross country and track teams, earning the Watertown High School 3000-meter steeplechase record that still stands today. Additionally, in 1993, Matthew won the bronze medal in the same event at the Empire State Games. Once graduating from high school, Matthew went to Syracuse University and earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology.
Matthew will be remembered as a loving dad who loved hanging out with his kids, playing his guitar, and watching movies. He will also be remembered as an avid lover of animals.
Matthew is survived by his children, Mallory Allen, Cranberry Lake, NY, and Riley Allen, Watertown, NY. He is also survived by his mother, Dale Anne LaBeau, Cape Vincent, NY; his sister, Sara Allen, Cape Vincent, NY; two uncles, Rick (Linda) Merryman, Watertown, NY, and Ron Merryman, IL; along with several cousins.
Matthew is predeceased by his father, Richmond, and maternal grandparents Jeannine and Dale E. Merryman.
Per Matthew's wishes, there will be no services.
