Loretta Yvonne Johnson Martin 90, of Cape Vincent, passed away in the comfort of her home in the loving care of her family, on Friday, 3/13/26.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Cleveland Funeral Home, in Cape Vincent.
Loretta was born in New York Mills, NY on May 17, 1935, daughter of Lawrence and Blanche Johnson. She is a graduate of St. Francise de Sales school in Utica.
On February 23, 1957, Loretta was united in marriage to Robert F. Martin. They resided on the Hayes Road in Marcy, NY until 1969 when they moved to Cape Vincent, NY where they owned and operated Martin's Marina for many years with their six children. Loretta and Bob enjoyed a wonderful loving life together until Bob passed away in 2008.
Loretta was an avid quilter and knitter. She left a collection of beautiful quilts to her family and friends. Her quilts are wonderful reminders of her talent and endless love. It is even more heartwarming to know that many strangers have been touched by her love through the many quilts she has donated to various charities. Loretta spoke fondly of the friendships she made over the years while quilting and knitting.
Loretta was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her six children, Karen (David) Martin, Michael (Cynthia) Martin, Mary Lou Cornish, Susan (Timothy) Huff, Stephen/Beaver Martin and Lori McKenna, ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Robert F. Martin, and two sons-in-law Mitchell Cornish and Patrick McKenna.
The family would like to thank Deneen Lilly for all of the loving care she has given our mother over the past six years. It was Deneen's love and devotion that helped keep our mother living independently in her home.
Calling hours will be held at Cleveland Funeral Home in Cape Vincent Saturday, March 21st, from 11am to 1pm, with a funeral mass to follow at St. Vincent of Paul Catholic Church at 1:30pm.
