Lila "Peggy" White, a beloved matriarch and cherished presence in her family and friends' lives, passed away on July 2, 2026. She was 97 years old.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Cleveland Funeral Home of Cape Vincent, NY.
Born October 31, 1928, Peggy lived a long and fulfilling life, centered on her deep love for her family and her unwavering dedication to creating a warm and welcoming home.
She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Martin Adrian White, Sr., and by two of her children, Martin and Margaret. Despite these losses, Peggy's strength and devotion to her family remained steadfast throughout her life.
Peggy is survived by her children, David (Meg), Ken (Tracy), Lou Ann (Kevin), Jean (Scott), Donald (Kim), and Brian. Her legacy also extends to multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren and even great-great-grandchildren who brought intense joy to her life. Peggy's love for her family was boundless and she took great pride in nurturing relationships across generations.
A woman of simple joys, Peggy found happiness in spending time with her loved ones whether cooking delicious meals in her kitchen or playing cards or bingo. She created countless memories that will be treasured forever. She had a special fondness for caring for her "babies", a term that reflected not only her affection for children, but also the nurturing spirit she extended to everyone around her.
Peggy's life was a testament to the values she held dear: Love your family deeply, do right by them, and cherish every moment you have together. Her wisdom and example will continue to guide those who knew her. May Lila "Peggy" White's memory serve as a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were fortunate to share her remarkable journey through life.
There will be no calling hours. A private memorial will be held at the family's convenience.
