Lawrence Edus of 8685 Church Street, Three Mile Bay passed away Sunday, April 5th at home under the care of his family and Hospice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Becker-Cleveland Funeral Home in Chaumont, NY.
Born in Rosier, April 19,1935 to Ross Edus and Ruth (Constance)Edus.
He married Jeanette Jackson, of Three Mile Bay, on January 16th, 1958 in Watertown.
He attended Cape Vincent Central School.
He was a past member of the Three Mile Bay Fire Dept.
He was a lifetime member and past trustee of All Saints Church in Chaumont.
Larry worked for Jefferson County Highway Dept for 33 years, retiring in the summer of 1991. He was a heavy equipment operator, running his favorite piece of equipment. The CAT D6 Dozzer. He was a road Forman during the last 5 years he was there.
Larry was an avid antique car and truck fan. His love for old cars and trucks started as a child all through his life. Owning many in his time. He collected everything that fit into the 30's through the 50's era.
His pride was his 1937 Chevy DumpTruck and 1950 Packard, which brought home many trophies from local car shows.
Larry loved spending time with his family. Especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed his friends, time spent with The Lunch Bunch in times gone by. He loved people and enjoyed talking to everyone. Always extending a compassionate heart, a listening ear, or a shoulder to cry on.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Sandy (husband Joe) Three Mile Bay, Two grandson, Eric, Three Mile Bay and Jared (his wife, Ashley) Chaumont. A son, Shawn, Three Mile Bay. Two granddaughters, Brooke, Adam, and Arianna, Texas. Two step-grandsons Josh, Watertown and David, Colorado.
He is preceded by his wife, Jeanette, infant daughter, Nancy. His parents, Ross and Ruth. Two sisters, Marie Leary (her spouse Eugene) and Delores Edus.
Calling hours will be held at All Saint’s church in Chaumont, NY on Friday, April 10th, from 11am to 1pm, with a funeral mass to follow before burial at New Cedar Grove cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Hospice of Jefferson County.
