Keith S. Countryman, 97, of Chaumont, NY, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, at Samaritan Medical Center.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Becker-Cleveland Funeral Home in Chaumont, NY.
Born on November 6, 1928, in Point Peninsula, NY, Keith was the son of the late Benjamin and Mildred Countryman. He spent his life rooted in the North Country, where he built a reputation as a hardworking, dependable man and devoted family member.
Keith was employed for 41 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator with the New York State Department of Transportation. He was a proud member of the Civil Service Employees Association of New York and the National Rifle Association.
On August 6th, 1983, Keith married the love of his life, Shirley. Together they shared many years of marriage, family, and cherished memories.
Keith enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved hunting and fishing, spending time outdoors whenever he could. He could often be found riding his lawn mower around the yard. Keith also enjoyed flying airplanes and was an avid fan of Western movies and television shows.
Keith is survived by his wife, Shirley Countryman, his children, Eric (Patty) Countryman of Schenectady, NY, Brian Countryman of Chaumont, NY, and three grandchildren, Cherry, Megan, and Kelly, and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Keith was predeceased by his siblings, Jake Countryman, Jean Countryman, Mavis Wiley, Mim Higgins, and Louis Aubertine.
Keith will be remembered for his strong work ethic, love of the outdoors, quiet determination, and devotion to his family. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
