Ida H. Radley passed away with family at her side on August 22, 2025, at the age of 92. She had been a resident at the Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown, NY for about 6 weeks. She was born in Chazy, NY on October 13, 1932 to the late Joseph and Elodie (Boileau) Hebert. Ida attended Copenhagen schools prior to receiving her nursing degree from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Syracuse, New York. Ida married Gerald M. Radley in September 1956 and was employed in Pediatrics at Mercy Hospital until the birth of her children. She then joined her husband in running the family dairy farm, Sunset Trailer Park and Marina in Cape Vincent.
Ida is survived by her husband of 68 years, Gerald Radley, a resident at the Samaritan Keep home, children Deborah (Paul) Knutson of Bellville, Ont, Dr. Michael Radley of Hagerstown, MD, Carol Radley of Cape Vincent, and granddaughters Dr. Alexa (Reece) Whitsett of Troutman, NC and Lydia (Cody) Wyatt of Taylors, SC, many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She is preceded in death by five brothers, Roger, Sylvio, Gerald, Raymond and Jerome and two sisters, Clarisse and Stella.
Ida remained active in the St. Vincent of Paul Catholic Church and community of Cape Vincent, after retiring about 20 years ago. They moved to a home on the river in the town of Cape Vincent. The St. Lawrence River was always a significant part of their lives.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Vincent of Paul Catholic Church at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. Family will receive friends at the Cleveland Funeral home in Cape Vincent, beginning at 11:30 AM. Burial will be in the St. Vincent of Paul Catholic Cemetery immediately following the mass. In lieu of flowers, mass cards or donations to a children's charity such as St. Jude would be appreciated.
