Black River, NY- Flora J. Fleming, 90, of Leray St. Black River, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at home surrounded by family and under the care of Jefferson County Hospice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Cleveland Funeral Home, Watertown.
Flora was born on March 2, 1935 in Watertown, NY to the late Nial and Marie (Lattimore) Sweet. She completed 1 year at Jefferson Community College before creating her career as a seamstress. She worked as a seamstress for 58 years across various companies.
Flora married Charles H. Fleming on September 27th, 1953, and they lived a happy life together until his passing in 1991.
Flora was part of the Tops Club, and enjoyed spending her free time working on diamond puzzles and making dolls clothes by hand.
Flora is survived by her children, Wendy (Jim) Belcher, Terri Fleming, and Ed Crabbe, and sister, Linda Helmer. She is also survived by grandchildren James Belcher Jr., Mark (Faith) Belcher, Jennifer (Bill) Kinne, Steven (Connie) Powis, Kenneth (Sam) Powis, Carl (Tasha) Fleming, Amy (Jayson) DeShane, Richard (Ashley) Fleming, and Sam Wisner, 18 great-grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and her husband Charles, Flora is predeceased by her siblings, Ann, Nial, Earl, Nyla, Donna, Lucy, Cliff, and Victor, as well as her sons, Charles and Carl.
A burial at New Cedar Grove Cemetery will take place in the spring.
