Elizabeth “Liz” June (Gosier) Emerson, 89, of Watertown, NY, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025 at the Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown, NY, where she had been a patient since November 2025.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 22 at 12:00 Noon with Reverend Ray Diesbourg officiating the graveside interment at New Cedar Grove Cemetery in Chaumont.
Elizabeth was born in Clayton, NY, on June 16, 1936, the daughter of the late Aloysius and Elizabeth (Palmer) Gosier. She later grew up in Chaumont and attended Lyme Central School, graduating in 1956. She was the third youngest of all twelve Children.
Adventurous and independent, Liz began her career at Cornell University in the Food Services Division, where she would eventually meet her future husband, Paul Emerson. They were married in 1970 at All Saints Catholic Church in Chaumont, NY and shared a loving marriage for 34 years until Paul’s passing in 2004. Following her time at Cornell, Elizabeth returned to the North Country working at the former Mercy Hospital as a housekeeping & maintenance services supervisor for 22 years.
She was an avid baseball fan with a lifelong love for the game. While she had a soft spot for the Yankees, in later years she became a devoted Toronto Blue Jays supporter. She enjoyed taken care of her son Randy during his youth, filling out and doing 1000s of crossword puzzles, fill-in-the-blank games, bingo, and loved the scenic drives around the North Country stopping for an ice cream cone along the way. Curious, energetic, and spirited even into her later years with declining health, Liz had a zest for life, strong, and tough battling thorough multiple medical issues up until her passing. Her laughter, enthusiasm, and love for life will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Randy Emerson of Boston, MA; nieces and nephews Susan Brodeur of Chaumont, Katherine Bellinger of Ogdensburg, Nancy J. Perkins, Andrea Gosier (Courteyou), Schnectady, NY, Linda Ludlow, Pipe Creek, TX, Bonnie Willet Oregon, Edna Gosier Schnectady, NY, John Gosier, Chaumont, David Gosier, Watertown, NY, Frank Gosier, Florida, Jimmy Gosier, Syracuse, NY, friends Esther Morrow Chaumont NY, Brenda and Kenny Petrie, Rose Fisher and Bruce Allen, Watertown NY, and others from Skyline Terrace where she previously resided.
She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Emerson; her siblings Leonard, Ellsworth “Red,” John, Guy, Robert, Joan, Vera, Paul, and William “Bill” Gosier; as well as her siblings in infancy Leo and Katherine.
