Edson Robinson Obituary

Edson H. Robinson, 68, of Chaumont, NY was born August 4th, 1956 and recently passed away at home on August 6th after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by: a son, Jason (Felicia) Williams, 4 grandchildren, his father Robert White, 3 brothers, Mike (Diane) Robinson, Robert (Diane) White, Jeff (Jodie) White, and 3 sisters, Laura Barney (fiance Bob Preston), Susie (Chris) Cole, and Roberta (Pat) Donahue. He also leaves a host of nieces and nephews.

Ed attended St. Lawrence Central School where he participated in both football and track. In his junior year his football team went undefeated the whole season, and some 20 years later all the members and coaches were inducted into the school's newly established Football Hall of Fame. After graduation in 1974 he briefly attended Canton College, but then opted for joining the army where he served until 1978.

Post military service Ed worked in high rise construction in Texas for 10 years. Subsequently, he returned to Northern New York where he met his life partner, Cindy Rengert and continued to work in construction at Fort Drum and also both with his uncle's construction company and individually for private customers.

In his free time Ed delighted in working in his woodshop, camping, fishing, watching football and reading (especially history and science fiction). Besides his carpentry and woodworking projects, he will also be remembered for his knowledge of movie & TV trivia and especially his joke telling. At the Sacket's Harbor Comedy Club at the beginning of the show he always joined the joke off which he usually won. Ed also loved to share a "joke of the day" almost everywhere he went because in his words he "loved to make people laugh".

He has chosen to be cremated with no funeral service, but there will be a celebration of life at the Crescent Restaurant in Chaumont the 24th of August from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. All are welcome. Donations may be made in his name to either the Chaumont Fire Department or the Cape Vincent Rescue Squad.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Cleveland Funeral Home of Watertown, New York. Online condolences can be made at www.clevelandfhinc.com.
