Arthur Harris Jr. Obituary

Arthur Jay Harris Jr., 90, of Chaumont, NY passed away November 9th, 2024 at Samaritan Medical Center.

Arthur was born in Watertown, NY on March 14th, 1934 to the late Arthur Jay and Gertrude (Devine) Harris. He worked as an accountant and served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, during the Korean War. In the 1970s, he was the treasurer for and assisted with the reorganization of The Red and Black of Watertown, NY, the oldest active semi-pro football team in the United States. Arthur married Sharon Martin at the Sacred Heart Church in Watertown, NY on June 14th, 1958.

Arthur is survived by his wife of 66 years, their children, Cheryl (Bruce) Bowhall of Chaumont NY, Michael Jay (Boo) Harris of Sarasota Florida and Chaumont NY, Mark Arthur Harris of Nashville Tennessee, and John Jay (Michelle) Harris of Baltimore MD, along with 8 grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Kogut, Sarah, Jayson and Tom Harris, and Kayley, Sean and Liam Harris. and 3 great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held at Becker-Cleveland Funeral Home of Chaumont, NY on Friday, November 15th 2024 from 11 AM to 1 PM with a funeral service immediately following.
