Timothy Maloney Jr. Obituary

WATERTOWN, NY- Timothy J Maloney Jr., 79, of State Route 3, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, NY.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Cleveland Funeral Home, Watertown, NY.

Timothy was born on May 20, 1939 in Ogdensburg, NY to the late Timothy J. Maloney Sr. and Julia (Schneider) Maloney. He graduated from OFA in 1957 and graduated from Canton ATC in 1960, where he earned an Associate in Applied Science with a major in Technical Business Management. At Canton ATC, he was a member of the Sigma Delta Phi fraternity.

He served his country from 1961-1991, first with the US Navy, and later with the US Naval Reserve, Seabees Unit of the Naval Reserve, and NY Army National Guard. Timothy’s civilian career was with the Social Security Administration, mostly as a Field Rep in the Watertown office. He also served as a union steward for a time with the AFGE while with the SSA. He retired in 2002 after 33 years of service.

On May 4, 1963, Timothy married the love of his life Ida Mae Nugent at St. Mary’s Cathedral Church in Ogdensburg, NY with father Kulakowski officiating. They shared 55 wonderful years together.

During his teen years, Timothy was a member of the Civil Air Patrol- Ground Observer Corps, and he earned many awards for his time spent. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, attaining the privilege of the Order of the Arrow and Eagle Scout. He later became a District Assistant Commissioner with the Boy Scouts, participating in numerous Camporees. He was also a past member of the American Legion.

Over the years, Timothy enjoyed camping and grilling, and eventually time spent at the computer, especially assisting people with their taxes.

Timothy is survived by his wife, Ida Maloney, Watertown NY, his children Timothy J. III and Jacqueline K. Landers-Maloney, Watertown NY, and Marc David and Rosa Maria Maloney, Amesbury, MA; his brothers Richard and Mary Anne Maloney, Upper Jay, NY and Joseph and Donna Maloney, Ogdensburg NY, four grandchildren, Timothy J. IV, Jacob Liam, David Michael, and Miriam Rose, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Timothy is predeceased by his sisters Judy Dionne and Dolores Strader.

There will be calling hours and a memorial service to be held in the spring.
